Fishermen fined $10K for keeping dozens more walleye than legal limit allows

A walleye is shown after being taken during a fishing trip in Lake Erie near Marblehead, Ohio. One of Michigan’s leading commercial fishermen is suing Michigan to try to overcome a decades-old policy that keeps walleye off limits to people who work the Great Lakes for profit.

The two men were stopped by conservation officers at the Leamington Municipal Marina on July 29. They were each fined $5,000 and two tackle boxes, two coolers and all 50 fish were forfeited to the Crown.
